Caermor

Caermor is a small village (fewer than 100 people) about three days upriver (west) of Ellowen. Local farmers eke out a subsistence raising hardy grains and root vegetables, but the major activity for the village is raising a local strain of small, durable sheep acclimated to the rocky terrain and colder temperatures.

The terrain is rough and rocky, with stunted growths of heather and scrub, near-constant winds from the mountains to the west, and bordered to the south by a wide moor, treacherous to cross even by day. The local inhabitants are small, stocky, dour farming folk — red-faced, tending toward strong drink, and belligerent with outsiders.

North of town, a steep hill rises a few hundred feet above the moor, topped with ancient standing stones that predate the village by centuries.
